IRIS Personal Tax- Foster Carer Allowance how to enter?
Resolution
Note: There is no dedicated box on the SA100 for the Foster Carer allowance.
If Sole Trader– TPV | Sole trader| accounting period| business details – tick box “Special arrangements for foster carers and shared lives carers” and because there is no box for this allowance – just manually reduce the share of profit and enter a note in additional information SA101 (under Reliefs). For example if you need to claim a £10,000 value.
If Partnership– There is no tick option in a Partnership for Foster Carer. We recommend that you contact HMRC support to request how they would like this to show on the SA100.
Workaround: Create a Sole Trade business just for the Foster care entry, Business Details, tick special arrangements for foster carer – however we will still advise you first contact HMRC support to confirm with them.
Foster care income is exempt from tax? – remove the relevant income from self employment and go to Reliefs/Additional info/ sa100 and add the income here with note on why its exempt.
