Personal Tax- HMRC Data retrieval and script error when HMRC screens appear: Confirm your identity etc
Resolution
You get a script error, this is known PC/HMRC issue – that error/screen is actually coming from HMRC (and not from IRIS) and has a issue loading up on your PC as these HMRC login screens have to interact with your PC/Browser.
This error can appear at any stage when HMRC is asking you to login or make checks etc.
1. Tick YES and also NO to run the scripts to check both results (Ignore if no yes/no options appear)
2. Update to the latest IRIS version – Help and about and check for downloads –if too old and it may not interact with HMRC (but its unlikely to be this as updating can eliminate this from your checks)
3. Check your Edge/Internet explorer browser is up to date as HMRC will try and use that as default to load their check screens. If its too old and it causes these issues
4. Check your PC IT settings and security settings – it can block the access to the HMRC screens
5. Check your Internet provider can access HMRC sites etc
6. Try another PC if its has PT loaded onto it.
