Last week we took over Twickenham Stadium for the fourth annual IRIS & Earnie Payroll Conference.
The topic of the conference was ‘improving payroll and HR effectiveness' and exhibiting at the event was NEST, NOW: Pensions, The Pensions Regulator, Capita and Cascade.
We heard from members of the IRIS management team, including IRIS HCM Division CEO Oliver Shaw, Marie Walsh, Employment Lawyer and Director at Consilia Legal, Jeremy Leslie-Smith of The Pensions Regulator, Marc Greggains from Cascade. Additionally, we heard from NEST and NOW: Pensions and IRIS Accountancy Solutions.
An Introduction to Employment Law
Marie Walsh of Consilia Legal regularly guest hosts our 6 Tips for Employment Law Compliance webinars. She provided us with an introduction to employment law, as well as her top tips for compliance and then took part in a Q&A session with the audience.
The Pensions Regulator with an Auto Enrolment Update
Jeremy Leslie-Smith, Industry Liaison Manager provided us with a general update on auto enrolment, as well as talking the audience through re-enrolment, what it is, what it means, and what employers need to do. As of October 31st 2016, 4,713 businesses had successfully completed their re-declaration of compliance after re-enrolment.
Payroll Stars 2016
The conference also saw the Payroll Star 2016 award winners being announced. Each year, we look for people who work in payroll and regularly go the extra mile for their colleagues. This could be excellent service for clients or employees, coaching for new members of the team, introducing new initiatives to drive efficiency, or meeting the needs of employees and ensuring effective resolutions for them and the business. Just like last year, the award was won by two people, Lourell Angus-Graham, who had her certificate picked up by Anish Kakaiya, and Nickie Wilson of MCCH.

Introducing IRIS Remote Payroll Entry
Mark Shaw, Senior Product Manager at IRIS, introduced the latest software from IRIS, IRIS Remote Payroll Entry.
IRIS Remote Payroll Entry streamlines the way accountants and bureaus receive payroll data from clients, putting the onus back on the client, whilst also being comprehensive enough to reduce the possibility for errors.
The feedback we had from attendees at the conference was that IRIS Remote Payroll Entry was exactly what they’ve been waiting for, and there was a great deal of interest in the software.
