Problem
HMRC SDS team have informed us of the following change to the HMRC Online service login page:
JavaScript announcement
From 10 August 2015 you will need JavaScript enabled to log in to your online account. You will get an error message if you try to log in without this. This can usually be enabled within your browser settings. To do this search "enableJavascript" on your internet browser.
Resolution
To ensure that you are still able to log in to you HMRC online account please make sure you have enabled JavaScript in your web browser.
Internet Explorer
- From the Tools menu, select Internet Options. You see the Internet Options dialog that provides a number of tabs that allow you to set your browser preferences.
- To enable JavaScripting, click the “Security” tab.
- Click the “Custom level…”
- From the Security Settings list, scroll through the options until you see “Scripting“.
- Check the option “Enable” for “Active Scripting” and “Scripting of Java applets“.
- Click “OK” to accept scripting changes and close the Security Settings window.
- From the Internet Options dialog, click “Apply” to effect settings then “OK“.
Google Chrome
- Open the browser menu and click “Settings“
- Click “Show Advanced Settings“
- Under the “Privacy” section click “Content Settings“
- Under the “JavaScript” section check the option “Allow all site to run JavaScript“
- Click “Finished“
Mozilla Firefox
- Open a new Firefox browser window or tab.
- Copy the following then paste it into the Firefox address bar: about:config
- Hit the return key.
- On the following page, click the button: “I’ll be careful, I promise!“
- Find the “javascript.enabled” row
- Double-click anywhere within the javascript.enabled row to toggle the value from “False” to “True“.
- Finally, refresh your browser.
