Problem
Personal/Business/Trust Tax- When transmitting self-assessment tax returns online clients are receiving an Error 3001 5017; Failed to match to match tax reference Error 5017; Known facts check failed to match tax return UTR number
Resolution
1.Make sure you are on the latest IRIS version – Help and About and ‘Check for downloads’ – once updated then regenerate.
2. Go to Client , View, tax tab – check if the UTR Tax code is correct.
3.If it is correct, delete the Tax ref, save and close, then go back in and manually enter in the UTR Tax code in again (Do not Copy and paste and make sure there are ‘spaces’ entered at the end). Save, regenerate and submit.
4. If it shows the error again then HMRC holds different personal details for this client, for example the address or national insurance number, or the status of the UTR is changed etc. You need to contact the HMRC and speak to a senior to discuss this 3001 5017 issue.
