Problem

Generating a Partnership Return where there is an entry for Foreign Savings/Dividends that completes boxes 2.6A & 2.6B will generate the following validation error: Partnership Statement The amount in box [N1.27] must equal the amount in box [7.34]. Please check. Partnership Statement The sum of all occurrences of box [N2.14A] must equal the amount in box [N1.14A]. Please check.

Resolution

The HMRC cannot accept an FBI Return with entries in boxes 2.6a & 2.6b and therefore the Return will need to be sent as a paper Return via post. You will need to go to the HMRC web site and search for unable to file form:- https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/self-assessment-reasonable-excuse-for-not-filing-return-online This is a PDF and you will need to download it and fill it in. Question 6 asks the reason and you need to enter the following:- This senario is covered by the HMRCs Specials and Exclusions document for partnerships ID number 3.
