Sole practitioner Sarah Bell runs Leodis Services Ltd, her thriving practice in Leeds (‘Leodis’ is a reference to the Roman name for the city). Sarah took the plunge to set up her own business nearly three years ago, after establishing her career in the accountancy profession. She says it was definitely the right move: “I haven’t looked back since, and today have a diversity of sole trader, partnership and corporate clients. Typically, I could be helping a local cafe, a large bathroom warehouse, a private day care nursery and a building contractor all in the same day. In terms of the services I provide, at the lower end of the spectrum I have one-man bands who bring me a box of paperwork once a year to do their annual return, while for some clients I’ve become their ‘virtual finance department’, handling their wages, invoicing, credit control and so on.”

In offering such a breadth of service to a growing client base, it’s essential that Sarah uses reliable, efficient accountancy software. She says, “When I set up my own practice, it was always going to be Drummohr, even though I had only a small number of clients.”
