Mountbatten Group is an independent hospice charity which provides end of life care and bereavement support to anyone living on the Isle of Wight and across Hampshire. With over 500 members of staff, Mountbatten needed a HR system that could tick all their boxes, and nothing (not even a global pandemic!) was going to get in their way…

A team that cares

Previously managing holiday through 20 excel spreadsheets and holiday cards, as a full-time job for a member of staff, the team at Mountbatten were keen to find a HR system that could cut their manual processes and save them hours of time each week.

Beginning their procurement process at the start of lockdown, Mountbatten were determined to find a system that would work for them, despite the restrictions in place, putting a number of HR systems through their paces before making their decision.

HR Operations Lead, Cheryl Blackley, was heavily involved throughout the procurement process and whittled the suppliers down from six to three, through an intense six-month sales process. She said, “We had three HR systems that fitted our criteria; Cascade not only ticked all our boxes, but also came with a team who were professional, listened to challenges and responded accordingly, didn’t over promise and always delivered. We had to know for sure that the system could handle our needs and we were incredibly impressed with the knowledge from the team and the product itself.”

Goodbye spreadsheets, hello automation

Mountbatten had several requirements for the system, with one of the most critical being automation and workflows. The team were spending hours of time each week completing laborious, manual processes and fundamental HR tasks needed to be streamlined.
