Redhill Academy Trust is a network of sixteen schools across Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire. Originally founded with Redhill and Carlton Academies, Redhill Academy Trust has since expanded and successfully helped all of its schools achieve good or outstanding ratings. With a continued focus on improving student outcomes, the Trust ensures operational efficiency by utilising Dataplan by IRIS and Every Compliance by IRIS to support its back-office functions.

An efficient back-office supports student outcomes
As a community of sixteen schools with Good or Outstanding Ofsted ratings, Redhill Academy Trust is committed to maintaining high standards and helping students reach their full potential. Richard Merryweather, Director of Operations, explains, “What underpins the Trust is our commitment to improving student outcomes and life chances. Richard continues, “Dataplan helps us be more efficient when it comes to our processes and procedures, and ensures that staff are paid on time every month.” Knowing that the back office is running efficiently allows the team to focus on what matters most – student achievement.
“We believe that, as much as our vision is to improve student outcomes, we need to be as efficient as we can in the back office,” Richard adds. “This enables us to focus our money, resources, time, and effort on students. We shouldn’t be spending more time than absolutely necessary on back-office functions. Getting this right is key to being more efficient and effective.”
Simplifying the payroll process
Managing payroll can be complex and time-consuming, especially for those unfamiliar with the process. Richard tells us, “Payroll is certainly one of those areas that prior to getting involved, you may not realise quite how painful it can be! Having the expertise of the Dataplan team means that we have complete peace of mind when it comes to our payroll and pensions. We’ve been really happy with the service we’ve had from the team, whilst keeping that element of control when it comes to our pay runs.”
Donna Hain, Finance Director for the Trust, tells us, “It is a comfort to know our payroll is in the hands of education payroll specialists, who understand the complexities of teachers’ pay scales, multiple posts with appropriate T&Cs, and term-time only working. Richard tells us, “Every Compliance by IRIS gives us end-to-end tracking of all compliance activities across the whole Trust, and it gives us everything we need in terms of reporting back to the board.”
