IRIS Software Group crowned winner at the UK Tech Awards 2022

At last night’s glittering UK Tech Awards 2022, which were sponsored by PwC and Silicon Valley Bank, IRIS Software Group (IRIS) took home the coveted ‘Tech Company of the Year’ award.  

In its 23rd year, the annual gathering of business titans sought to celebrate success, reward achievement, and raise the profile of the UK tech community.   

IRIS has received recognition for having a very successful year, generating notable expansion through both organic development and acquisition. Since 2014, IRIS has acquired 34 businesses, including nine during 2022. IRIS has successfully doubled its EBITDA in three years and established a beachhead in North America to become the fastest growing challenger in the American accountancy software market. The group has expanded turnover from £5m in 2002 to over £274m in the year to end April 2022. 

The business also won for its efforts in corporate social responsibility, which go hand in hand with its commercial success. 43% of IRIS’ workforce is female, twice the IT sector average of 19%. IRIS launched several supportive initiatives over the year, including a ‘Women in Leadership Programme’ empowering its female talent to rise to the top ranks and a ‘Returnship Programme’, giving women who’ve had career breaks a fair opportunity to get back into work.  

Additionally, the company increased its efforts to inspire the next generation by sponsoring underprivileged students to attend Salford University; partnering with The Prince’s Trust to help young people maximise their dreams; collaborating with the Bookmark charity to help children with reading and the REACH charity to encourage girls to pursue careers in technology and providing work placements to local students.
