Error 1327 - Invalid Drive Error installing software

Problem

When trying to install payroll user gets the following error:

Error 1327 Invalid Drive Error installing software

NOTE: The displayed drive on the error could be ANY letter.

Resolution

This error indicates there are inconsistencies with the registry information on the PC.

This will need to be looked at by your IT support.

DO NOT AMEND YOUR SYSTEM REGISTRY WITHOUT GUIDANCE UNLESS YOU ARE SURE OF WHAT YOU ARE DOING.

ALWAYS BACK UP THE REGISTRY BEFORE MAKING ANY CHANGES.

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders

and

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell Folders

Check these entries using Regedit.exe to see if you can spot any reference to the drive letter displayed in the error message.

For the purpose of completing the installation these entries should be referring to %USERPROFILE% as the location ie. My Pictures – %USERPROFILE%\My Documents\My Pictures rather than F:\My Documents\My Pictures.

If desired, once the installation is complete these entries can be reverted to the original location.
