Problem
Usually the 7.5% non-repayable tax credit will not show for a resident but will show for a non-resident. This was changed by HMRC from 2017 onwards. However currently, customers are experiencing the non-repayable tax credit not showing on the computation even when non-resident is ticked, this is HMRC exclusion 57. When generating the return from 19.3.0 onwards, a will warning message will appear from IRIS advising that this is a HMRC exclusion, IRIS matches the incorrect HMRC calculation.
Resolution
Workaround from HMRC: send a paper return with the current liability showing in IRIS with a self-assessment reasonable excuse form not to file online. https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/self-assessment-reasonable-excuse-for-not-filing-return-online
