Problem

How do I show the movements in the profit and loss reserve on the face of the profit and loss account (including dividends)?

Resolution

For companies with years beginning on or after the 6th April 2008 the reserves movements including dividends no longer need to be shown on the face of the profit and loss account. Instead this information should be included within a reserves note. An option was available to continue optionally showing the profit and loss reserve on the face of the profit and loss. Under new UK GAAP e.g. FRS 102 the format of the accounts has changed significantly. Due to the reserves movements being shown elsewhere there is no need for the profit and loss account reserve including dividends to be shown on the face of the profit and loss.
