Current Accounting Period Tag
The current accounting tag will take the last registered accounting period end date before today’s date. For example, if the date today is the 28/2/12, and the registered accounting periods include:
28/2/11
28/2/12
This tag would pick up 28/2/11 (TIP: KB IAS-6589 : How do I edit an IRIS Date Tag to the desired format in an Automail letter?)
To view your accounting periods in the database:
- Load AutoMail from the IRIS Main Menu.
- Click on the ‘Client’ button
- The client browser will be displayed. Click on the required business client and click on the view button.
- The client screen will be displayed. Click on the basic tab and click on the periods button.
- Your Accounting periods will be displayed.
To create your own template
To insert the current Accounting tag into your template:
- Log on to IRIS AutoMail from the IRIS Main Menu
- The IRIS AutoMail – Letter request Browser will be displayed, click on the templates button
- The IRIS AutoMail – Letter template maintenance screen will be displayed, click on the folder that you would like to save the template to. For example, User folder
- Click on the New Template button
- The New template screen will be displayed, enter a description in the “Template Description” field
- Click on the spy glass in the “Based On” field
- The Select Screen will be displayed, locate your base template (KB IAS-7078 : How do I create my own custom template)
- Ensure the correct context type is being displayed. In this example, select the ‘Accounts’ context type
- Click on the OK button
- The template will then be displayed.
- Minimise Minimise Word. The ‘tag selection’ screen will be displayed.
- Click the + sign next to client accounts info
- Click the + sign next to Accounting Period
- Place a tick next to ‘date accounting period ends on
- Click on the refresh button.
- Maximise Word
For versions of MS Word 2007 or later :
- Place your curser where you would like the tag to be inserted.
- Click on the Mailings Tab | In the Write & Insert Fields section, click on the Insert Merge Field down arrow
- Select LMCLAPENDDATE, click on the insert button, then select the close button.
- Minimize Word and click on the Save button in the Tag Selection screen
