Problem

IRIS Personal Tax is generating a set of full Self Employment/Partnership pages instead of short pages.

Resolution

You want Short pages showing however Full self employment pages are required and will be generated automatically by IRIS if any of the following reasons apply to this client:

NOTE: If you have checked the 12 steps below, then there has been box(s) completed in the PT data entry screens which is only present on the full return pages and not the short return pages. If the software is producing a full return there is not a way to make the software produce a short return.

  1. Turnover of more than £82,000 or would have been if the business traded for 12 months
  2. A tick is included in the balance sheet information in Business Details.
  3. The basis period is not the same as the account period
  4. Overlap relief has been claimed
  5. The client has a UITF 40 adjustment claim
  6. The client has made a claim for farmers or creative averaging
  7. The client has claimed Agricultural or industrial building allowance.
  8. There has been a change of account date
  9. There is an entry within ‘deductions from net profits’. – there WAS a entry – this triggers the full pages
  10. There is an adjustment to profit chargeable to Class 4 NICs (box 101 on full pages)
  11. There has been a box completed in the data entry screen which is only present on the full return and not the short return
  12. If there are two trades – One trade has a loss and the other trade has a profit. PT has offset it automatically

You want Full Partnership pages are required instead of short– Load the PT client, open the relevant period, Business Details Tab, Tick ‘Force Full Partnership pages’. There is no function/override to force pages to short.
