Problem

IRIS Accountancy(IAS) - Invalid Data Entry OR Error 3001 4065/4083/4085/4082/4066/4052/4083, 'BusinessName', 'Companyname','NINO', 'Postcode', 'TaxReference', AllCharitable, 'Accountname' etc

Resolution

  1. The error 3001 (Majority of errors begin with this and then a unique code after)- 4065/4083/4085/4082/4066/4052, this is a general warning from HMRC that you have entries which are not permitted for an online submission
  2. The warning may show the name of the entry and/or type of income etc. Please check the exact message/wording and then locate this entry
  3. If you do make a correction/edit/change then remember to regenerate the tax return and not resubmit the original one which got rejected

BT 4082 Invalid Data Entry ‘TaxReference’ element is invalid. Read this KB

BT Companyname: This message indicates that the name of the business is too long. Data Entry, Company Information, Select Short Name.

BT 4052 Element ‘Name of Section here’: this is a general warning about a ‘value/title’ you have entered. This specific value/title is not permitted (for example negative entries may not be permitted), please edit the value and regenerate. If it mentions 4084 4052 Loans to Participators: Go to data entry-summary-tick no for loan to participators.

BT Postcode: Data Entry, Overpayments & Repayment Claim, Bank Details and Payment To Person. ‘Name of account’ field may not have been entered.

Personal and Business Tax 4085 4065 AccountNumber: There is a issue with the bank account number in the repayment claim; : In PT 1. Click on the Relief’s tab, click Miscellaneous, Click on Repayment Claim and edit the details of the bank account number so it is 8 digits only. In BT Go to Data entry-Overpayments and repayment claims and ensure all fields are completed correctly.

PT 4020 4065 Invalid content found at element date of marriage or civil. Read this KB

PT 4085 BusinessName: This message indicates that the name of the business is too long to fit into the space available within box 1 on page SEF1 the limitation is 28 characters including spaces. Open the Sole Trade shown in the top half of the screen and Abbreviate the name of the business or the information can be replaced with the phrase ‘see additional information’, then a full disclosure can be entered into the additional information section. Note:- This error can also occur if the business name contains invalid/special characters, please edit the name so it contains letters and numbers only.

PT 4085 Spouse name NINO: Check the clients and also the spouses NI code, if it is correct then delete NI code – switch client to refresh and then go back in and enter back in NI number and save. You can go to Reliefs , Allowances, Married Couple – Allocation and Transfer, Marriages, View , Spyglass next to the Partner’s name, View, Tax Tab, Make an Entry next to the box NI number.

PT 4085 4065 Spouse first name and last name: Check the name of spouse and NI code, delete their name and reenter the name again. If a non client spouse and delete/re-enter name gets same error, then delete the marriage completely and rebuild the marriage but this time recreate as a new non client spouse.

PT 4065 Overseas Land and Property Income Details: HMRC online rules has a property limit which will cause the warning: For example: Income | Foreign | Property Income – if it has 7+ properties, then HMRC restriction only allows 6 properties to be filed online – so you will need to combine one property together to being it down to 6 properties. Reliefs, Misc, Additional info, SA100 and add a note what you did.


PT 4085 4065 National Insurance Number From the Client menu, click View. Click on the Tax tab and enter the correct National Insurance number or delete the entry and manually type it in again.

PT 4085 4065 Invalid Country code: Foreign – Dividends and Interest – Edit (in the middle of the screen) – Enter Country Code. Or look for the ‘code’ listed and edit it.

PT 4085 Postcode: Reliefs, Misc and Repayment Claim | Check all fields for the relevant postcode and if empty then complete the field. Also check the ‘Bank Transfer’ tick box and if ticked then ensure the bank/society has a relevant postcode entry. If the Nominee address CLIENT postcode box shows no postcode then exit the screen and then go back into Repayment Claim and the client postcode will show again. If still an issue then Client, View, Address Tab – remove the postcode, save , exit screen and go back in and enter it in again and regenerate the tax return.

PT 4083 LocalAuthorityName: The name of the local authority is too long to fit within the space provided on page TR4, box 12, the limit is 28 characters including spaces so edit the name. IF a BLIND client: 1. From the Relief’s tab, select Allowances. 2. Select Blind Persons Relief and amend the name of the local authority. This information can be replaced with the phrase ‘see additional information’, then a full disclosure can be entered into the additional information section; Reliefs tab, select Miscellaneous, Additional Information.

PT ‘Any Other Information Space‘: This would be due to any special characters entered in ‘Additional Information’ – the warning also lists the content of the entry so you can find it. Either remove the characters or delete the whole entry and add it as a PDF add on when generating a return.
