Problem

It has been reported that in some situations users receive the following exception when attempting to submit a Form within Company Secretarial: E-File Exceptions Companies House will reject this E-File. The following data is missing or incorrect. Client: TEST : TEST Ltd E-File: 288a Event: Appointment of Director/Secretary (manually logged) Date Occurred: 05/06/2009 Exceptions: Element Forename is invalid. in 69: the https://xmlgw.companieshouse.gov.uk: Forename element is invalid. The Value ''is invalid according to its datatype 'string' - the actual length is less than the MinLength value

Resolution

The exception above will occur where more than one space has been entered between a Director/Secretary First name and Middle name. Example: Joe Albert Bloggs (two spaces between Joe and Albert) will appear on the XML as: <Surname>Bloggs</Surname> <Forename>Joe</Forename> <Forename /> <Forename>Albert</Forename> Select: Edit | Director/Secretary | View, click the magnifying glass next to Director/Secretary name, click [View] again. Remove any extra spaces between the Forenames and attempt to re-submit the Form. If problems persist please contact IRIS Support.
