Problem
When submitting electronically to Companies House they are returning a 9999 rejection regarding an invalid envelope number.
Resolution
The envelope number is a unique identifier assigned to each electronic submission to Companies for a particular Presenter account. Each envelope number may be used only once. The most common causes of this rejection are:
1. The same Presenter details are being used in another software application causing a conflict e.g. in an Accounts package
2. A backup of PCSR needed to be restored for some reason so the envelope numbers are being reused
If option 1 applies you will need to apply for a separate Electronic Filing Service Credit Account with Companies House (https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/apply-for-a-companies-house-online-filing-presenter-account) so that the Presenter details are only used in one software package.
If option 2 applies you can increment the envelope number by going to File > Presenter Details > open the Presenter > eFiling tab > Change Last Envelope Number button. Increment the number in the window to a sufficiently greater value.
