Problem
When trying to file a partnership return online with more than one trade or accounting period a message is coming up to say it is a HMRC online filing special case.
Resolution
Due to an HMRC restriction it is not possible to file online a partnership with two trades or two periods. There is a workaround to be followed to file partnership returns online with more than one accounting period or trade. In PTP please do the following:
1) Complete the return as normal, including the 2nd or subsequent trade(s)
2) Before preparing the file for FBI, click Print tax Return on the Client Tax Returns screen
3) Click on the Select Schedules button and then Clear and then Close on the subsequent window that is displayed
4) Click Clear on the main Print Tax Form screen and then tick Supporting Schedules and click Print
5) The 2nd and subsequent trading pages and their associated statements will then be displayed in the Return Viewer
6) Click on Save in the Viewer toolbar and then attach the PDF to the FBI submission
