Error 1315 Unable to write to the specified folder when installing PTP Products on a network
Resolution
For clients running on a workgroup, peer to peer or domain setup, you may experience the error below when installing the PTP update:
To overcome this you must install PTP on the machine where the data is stored first and have the update run while this install is connected to the data.
The other workstations can then have PTP installed.
Failure to do so will result in the installation erroring.
This was an issue with Microsoft, who have now released a KB to fix this.
The limitations are that the affected PC’s will need to have, as a minimum, build version of Windows 10 1903 or 1909 installed to allow PTP updates to proceed otherwise the above workaround of installing PTP on the machine where the data is stored is still required.
